Internships are very crucial for acquiring new knowledge and practical knowledge outside academia. It usually lasts for a period of one month or 4-6 weeks. Students should try participating and applying for different Internships around the world. It is more interesting to know that different countries offer fully paid internships for bright students.
Following is a list of few funded internships for undergraduate and post graduate students:
1. METI Government of Japan Internship
Currently stopped accepting applications from both companies and interns for this year. Check later for more updates: https://internshipprogram.go.jp/english/
2. Mitacs Globalink Research Internship
An initiative for international undergraduates to conduct research under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.
Eligible countries: Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States
Program period: May to October of each year
Duration: 12 weeks
Eligibility:
Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s program at an eligible institution (see list of eligible institutions by country)
Have one to three semesters remaining in their program as of Fall 2023 (see requirement by country)
Meet the grade requirements for their country of study (see GPA requirements for each international partner)
Apply to a minimum of three and a maximum of seven projects and ensure selections are from at least three different Canadian provinces
Be fluent in the oral and written language of the project (English and/or French)
Be available to complete an internship lasting 12 consecutive weeks between May 1 and October 31

3. USIDHR International internships
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students from around the world to advance their knowledge and advance their careers in diplomacy and human rights.
Application Period: For Fall: Sep – November
Country: USA
Duration: 12 weeks
Eligibility:
BA Degree or equivalent in a relevant field (i.e. International Relations, Sociology, Political Science, Social Studies or Law)
Excellent level of written English and Communication Skills
Experience in blog writing or professional writing (journal articles, scientific blogs etc)
Excellent organizational skills
Critical thinking
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the field of human rights and diplomacy and have a personal commitment to the ideals of a better and peaceful world
Be computer literate in standard software applications
Living in Washington, DC or nearby area for the duration of the internship
Benefits
This is an unpaid internship, but interns get the opportunity to enroll for free in our Diplomatic Protocol Training (valued at $2500) and get certified by US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. Also, upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive a certificate of internship and get a letter of recommendation from us when needed that can be used to apply for jobs, college or other internship opportunities.

4. Allied Bank Internship

5. SUPARCO internship
An internship program that offers an opportunity to enhance and increase the capability, diversity and size of the nation’s future space science, technology and engineering workforce.
Eligibility:
Students studying in final year of Bachelor of Engineering or Science having equal to or greater than 3.0 CGPA in all previous years/semesters are eligible to apply.
MPhil or MS/MSc and PhD students are not eligible to apply.
Upload 6th or 7th semester passed mark sheet while applying online. Invalid data will lead to the cancellation of internship at any stage.
Carefully select Station and Field while applying online. After submission of application, the station and field will not be changed.

6. European Union Internship
Application period- January
Eligibility
Traineeship programme is open to university graduates who:
1. have completed a standard 3-year higher education degree (minimum EQF 6 level), corresponding to a complete Bachelor’s cycle, or equivalent. Only if you have a certificate or official confirmation from your university that you have such a degree will you be eligible to apply. You will have to provide the following documents:
diplomas or certificates with final grades clearly indicated
and proof of minimum EQF 6 level. Find out more about EQF levels
2. have no prior work experience of any kind, in excess of 6 weeks in any EU institution, body or agency, delegation, with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), or Advocates General at the Court of Justice of the European Union (EUCJ)
3. have a very good knowledge of languages:
For the administrative traineeship – you must have a very good knowledge of two EU official languages, one of which must be a working language: English, French or German at C1 or C2 level as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and a second one at B2 level at least as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For non-EU nationals, only one procedural language is required at C1 or C2 level.
For the translation traineeship in the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) - you must be able to translate into your main/target language (normally your mother tongue), from two other official EU languages (‘source languages’*).:
your main/target language must be one of the official EU languages
your first source language for translation must be a working language of the EU: English, French or German
your second source language can be any of the official EU languages with at least B2-level proficiency
* At least one of the source languages you offer must be French, English or German. This is because
the EU receives a large volume of translations and documents in French, English or German
French, English and German are the languages that EU staff members most frequently use in their work

Complete and submit the application form along with your supporting documents

7. The University of Tokyo Research Internships Program
Country: Japan
Application period: 14. Nov. 2022- Jan 2023
Program period: 28 June 2023 - 8 August 2023
Accommodation: As part of the GSS-UTRIP Scholarship, free housing will be provided for the duration of the stay (43 nights).
Eligibility:
Applicants for UTRIP must:
Have completed at least one full year in a Bachelor's degree program at the time of application.
Be enrolled in and, after the UTRIP program ends, be expected to return to, at least another semester, quarter, or another equivalent academic term, in a Bachelor's degree program (or a Bachelor's-equivalent year of an integrated Bachelor's-Master's degree program) at a university outside of Japan. *At selection, the priority for nomination is given to applicants expected to be in their third year of a four-year Bachelor's degree program and to applicants expected to be in their second year of a three-year Bachelor's degree program. Second-year students in four-year Bachelor's degree programs are also encouraged to apply.
Be enrolled in a natural science or related field.
Be thinking of pursuing long-term career goals in a scientific area.
Be able to commit to the entire six consecutive weeks of the UTRIP program (June 28 to August 8, 2023*) on a full-time basis.
Be able to present coverage of a health insurance plan that is effective during the internship program before arriving in Japan.
Be able to submit vaccination certificate or PCR test result you took just before leaving your country.
English proficiency: test scores of TOEFL or an equivalent English proficiency test (such as IELTS) are required if English is not your first language. Test scores that have already expired are accepted, as long as the applicant is still able to produce proof of the test scores upon request by the UTRIP office. Students who have received an English-medium education continuously for the past 8 years are exempted from submitting English proficiency test scores.
*Note: Due to the infection status of COVID-19, this program may be changed to online when it is difficult to conduct in person.

Asia / Eastern Russia / Oceania & Pacific Regions- 140,000JPY
Europe / Western Russia / North America- 160,000JPY
Latin America & the Caribbean / Africa / Middle East- 170,000JPY
Financial assistance for participation expenses: UTRIP participants will receive financial assistance to cover their costs and expenses in two ways: (1) the Graduate School of Science (GSS) Scholarship for UTRIP-Related Expenses ("GSS-UTRIP Scholarship") and (2) the FUTI Award (Friends of UTokyo, Inc.) Please keep in mind that the FUTI Award is open to all students currently enrolled in US universities, regardless of citizenship. When an applicant is chosen for the FUTI Award, he or she cannot also be considered for the GSS-UTRIP Scholarship. When an application for the FUTI Award is rejected by the sponsor, a GSS-UTRIP Scholarship will be available.
